Interested in the hidden impacts of intimate partner and domestic violence (IPV/DV) in the workplace and how to support those experiencing it? Leading Change at Work: Addressing Intimate Partner & Domestic Violence equips employers, managers, and employees with practical knowledge and tools to recognize, respond to, and prevent IPV/DV at work. Grounded in prevention, this session offers actionable strategies to support employee safety, foster a positive workplace culture, and drive long-term organizational change.
Learning Outcomes:
– Apply the “Recognize, Respond, Refer” framework to support employees experiencing IPV/DV.
– Differentiate the types of IPV/DV and recognize their impacts on individuals, families, and workplace environments.
– Reflect on strategies to foster a safe and supportive workplace culture, including policies, conversations, and actions that contribute to long-term prevention and change.
About the Presenters
Krystal Lowe is the Education and Prevention Lead at the Transition House Association of Nova Scotia (THANS), where she designs and delivers evidence-based, trauma-informed training for frontline practitioners responding to intimate partner and domestic violence, as well as public education initiatives. She holds a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Applied Psychology (Forensic).
Prior to THANS, Krystal was the Sexual Violence Prevention Education Coordinator at Saint Mary’s University and a Research Analyst with the Corrections Research Unit at Public Safety Canada. She has contributed to national projects on sexual violence and coercion, risk assessment, and offender profiling, and has published research on domestic violence disclosure and correctional psychology.
Drawing on lived experience and professional expertise, Krystal centers connection and resilience in her work, equipping professionals to identify, prevent, and respond to gender-based violence while fostering safer, more compassionate communities.
