How to Leverage Immigration Pathways to Fill Skills Gaps

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) operates a Dedicated Service Channel (DSC) branch within the department, with a specific mandate to offer specialized immigration services and support to key stakeholders and employers. This initiative aims to help Canada attract and retain global talent, ultimately strengthening its economy.
During this lunch and learn series, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the Dedicated Service Channel’s Outreach Team, which assists Canadian employers navigate the complex topic of immigration. This session will be delivered by Cindy-Lynn Frenette, IRCC’s Atlantic Outreach Officer.
Cindy-Lynn will provide an overview of immigration basic concepts and how employers leverage various pathways to find highly-skilled employees with a work permit. Main topics will include:
- Immigration basic concepts
- Temporary Foreign Worker Program
- The International Mobility Program

Bilingual Outreach Officer, Cindy-Lynn Frenette has been a proud public servant for over 18 years. Born and raised in New Brunswick’s Acadian peninsula, Cindy-Lynn is an avid advocate of Atlantic growth opportunities. In her role as an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Atlantic Outreach Officer, she actively works on promoting IRCC’s key immigration priorities. Leveraging her in-depth immigration knowledge, she is passionate about helping employers and working with stakeholders.
