Session Description:
Join us for an engaging and interactive professional development session on “AI in the Workplace” using the World Café format. This session will explore the impact of artificial intelligence on various aspects of work, discuss its benefits and challenges, and brainstorm actionable strategies for effective AI integration. Participants will rotate through different discussion tables, each focusing on a specific aspect of AI in the workplace, and collaborate to generate ideas and solutions.
What’s a World Cafe?
A World Café professional development session is a structured conversational process that facilitates open and intimate discussions in small groups, and links ideas within a larger group to access the collective intelligence or wisdom in the room. Here’s how it typically works:
- Setting: The environment is designed to resemble a café, with tables for small groups.
- Welcome and Introduction: The host begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the World Café process, setting the context, sharing the Café Etiquette, and putting participants at ease.
- Small-Group Rounds: The process starts with the first of three or more twenty-minute rounds of conversation for small groups. At the end of each round, participants move to a different table, and a new round begins. One person may stay as the “table host” to welcome the next group and briefly fill them in on the previous conversation.
- Questions: Each round is prefaced with a question specially crafted for the specific context and desired purpose of the World Café. The same questions can be used for more than one round, or they may build upon each other to focus the conversation or guide its direction.
- Harvest: After the small groups, individuals are invited to share insights or other results from their conversations with the rest of the large group.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of how AI is currently being used in the workplace and its potential future applications.
- Identify the key benefits and challenges associated with integrating AI into work processes.
- Discuss ethical considerations and develop guidelines for the responsible use of AI.
- Brainstorm and prioritize actionable strategies for effectively integrating AI into their workplace.
- Collaborate with colleagues from various departments to share insights and develop a cohesive action plan.
